David Carment is Professor of International Affairs at Carleton University and editor of Canadian Foreign Policy Journal. His most recent books examine state fragility theory and policy and third party intervention in ethnic conflict. Carment teaches conflict mediation and bargaining and negotiation His research focusing third party intervention has appeared in Journal of Conflict Resolution, Journal of Peace Research, Conflict Management and Peace Science, Third World Quarterly and International Interactions.



Evan Hoffman is a Senior Associate at the Canadian International Institute of Applied Negotiation (CIIAN). Dr. Hoffman has published numerous articles on the themes of conflict prevention and resolution, peacebuilding, and mediation. He has provided consulting services to Global Affairs Canada (GAC), the Carter Center, the UN, the EU, the Ottawa Police Service, St. Lawrence College, the Vietnamese Ministry of Justice and others on these topics.
